From Apprentice to Rising Star: Olivia Jones Shines at Make UK Awards
Olivia Jones, a fourth-year apprentice at Axiom, has been named runner-up in the prestigious Make UK Manufacturing Awards 2024 finals, standing out against thousands of applicants and securing recognition as one of the UK's top engineering apprentices.

After being nominated by her colleagues for her outstanding contributions, she impressed the judges with her apprenticeship journey. Olivia's dedication to progressing her career in manufacturing was celebrated at the ceremony held in London this January.

Over the past year, Olivia has progressed to a more managerial role, working closely with Axiom’s Production Manager, a position she is set to assume upon completing her apprenticeship.

Her current role sees Olivia analysing production processes to identify issues and implement improvements, while managing the Incoming Inspection area with a dedicated team. She also prepares investment proposals for company growth and assists with quality data analysis to support strategic management plans.

Olivia, from Rhondda Cynon Taf, started her studies at Coleg y Cymoedd before moving onto her Axiom apprenticeship. Coming from a family of technicians and electronic engineers, the opportunity had helped launch her into her dream career.

Her hard work is what led to her securing the coveted Engineering Apprentice Rising Star title at the Make UK Manufacturing Awards’ Welsh finals in November of last year. The Rising Star Award recognises those who have excelled in undertaking training and development opportunities.

For Olivia, it acknowledges the significant contributions she has made to Axiom’s operations and her potential as she progresses through her final year of Axiom’s award-winning apprenticeship programme.

As a Rising Star regional winner, she joined five other winners from across the UK in her category at this year's national awards, representing Wales, the South, North West, North East/Yorkshire & Humber, and Midlands and East.

Olivia Jones, said: “I’m so proud of this achievement and grateful that my hard work has been acknowledged on a national level.

“The support and guidance that I’ve been offered by my colleagues throughout my journey with Axiom has been invaluable and I can’t wait to continue to progress my career with them.

“This is definitely a huge milestone for me and I’m excited for what’s to come.”
